Q. What are the possibilities of Altitude sickness and what are the safety measures?

Altitude sickness (also known as acute mountain sickness)is an unfavorable health condition that strikes our body when we are at a high altitude (basically above 2500m). If there are any symptoms seen during the trek, firstly we will have a primary treatment to cure the sickness. First of all, we will walk down to a minimum of 150m from the location where the symptoms are seen, and walk down again if the symptoms are not improved. If the victim is unable to walk down on his/her own, we can hire a horse, or we can request our porter to carry the person. Warm water and ginger juice are also served to cure the sickness. If these treatments are unable to cure the patient, rescue can be done by helicopter.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek / 14 Days 

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)

Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with the Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to the Hotel. After check-in, if time allows, you will visit the MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara drive 6-7 hrs (850 m)

Start your travel early at 7:00 am, we will arrange a ticket in a tourist coach at the riverside seat to enjoy the scenery; the road follows by Trisuli River where you see many people rafting on the river. Around 6/7 hours (200km) drive, we reach Pokhara (a city of lakes, literally). A city that offers us a magnificent view of various mountains namely Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre, and other mountains of the Annapurna range. You have a good chance to do some last-minute shopping and self-exploration around the town (walk around a few lakes, boating, etc). (Overnight in Pokhara at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 03: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1540 m) 1 hour driving till Nayapul and trek 4-5 hrs.

After our breakfast, Annapurna Base Camp Trek started from Nayapul. It is located near the attractive lake city Pokhara. From there, it takes an hour to reach, our first day of the Annapurna base camp trek is a bit easier hike through the bank of Modi Khola River and the beautiful sight of lowland rice fields. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)) 

Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850 m) 5-6 hrs.

Leaving Tikhedunga, we begin our journey with a steep climb to Ulleri ascending a steep stone staircase (which has about 3300 steps), a difficult part for most of the trekkers. During our 5/6 hrs. hike, we will experience the majestic views, rhododendron forest, beautiful villages, flora, fauna, and many more. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis is) 

Day 05: Hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadhapani (2660 m) 7-8 hrs.

Early morning climbs up to Poon Hill (3210 meters (about 1.99 mi) / 10531 feet (to see the panoramic view with a beautiful Poon hill sunrise and after breakfast trek, it will take 5 to 6 hours to reach Tadapani from Ghorepani. The main attraction of this trail is Poon hill the stunning viewpoint in Magdi. to Tadapani through dense forest; we get a chance to see the flora and fauna of the Annapurna trek area. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis) 

Day 06: Tadapani to Chomrong (2140 m) 5-6 hrs.

From Tadapani, we make a steep descent through the dense and dark forest to a beautiful village located on the lap of giant Annapurna massive known as Chomrong. Our route from Tadapani to Chomrong route passes through the west bank of the Modi Khola with descent and steep along the way to Chomrong below the towering peaks Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare, Chhomrong is a village in the Annapurna area of Nepal and famous night stopover for those going to Annapurna sanctuary trek. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis) 

Day 07: Chomrong to Dovan (2600 m) 5-6 hrs.

After breakfast, on the trail, we make a hike of stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola and wooded slopes of the Himalayas. Chhomrong to Dovan trek distance is 8.6 kilometers, we cross the suspension bridge and continue the trek up to Sinuwa. Steep descent till chhomrong Khola and steep ascent towards upper Sinuwais the most difficult part of the ABC trek.  (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 08: Dovan to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3700 m) 4-5 hrs.

Gradually ascending through the riverbank of Modi Khola, we reach the base camp of Machhapcuhre also known as Mt. Fishtail. Its name in Nepali means 'fishtail' – indicating the mountain's twin peaks and notched summit. Fish Tail Mountain is a holy peak in the Hindu religion, related to Lord Shiva, who is supposed to live on the peak. Therefore, the climb is restricted here and one can only wish to climb its summit. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 09: Machhapuchre Base Camp to Annapurna base camp (4110 m) 4-5 hrs

The trail continues gradually ascending to Annapurna Base Camp. This area is called the Annapurna Sanctuary. The Annapurna Sanctuary is a towering Freezing basin lying 40 km (about 24.85 mi) directly north of Pokhara. This oval-shaped upland sits at an altitude of over 4200 meters (about 2.61 mi) and is surrounded by a ring of mountains, the Annapurna range, most of which are over 7000 meters (about 4.35 mi).  (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 10: Annapurna base camp to Bamboo (2340 m) 5-6 hrs.

Wake up early morning, explore the hidden valley then trek back to Bamboo (2340m). After breakfast, you will be walking all the way downhill to Bamboo. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 11: Bamboo to Jhinu (1780 m) 5-6 hrs.

After breakfast, we trek back to the same as passed before way to the Sinuwa via walking downhill the Chhomrong Khola and then crossed by a bridge, we take more than a thousand stone steps at end of Chhomrong Village. After Chhomrong we take a different route and instead of going to Ghandruk Village but we head to Jhinu Danda has natural hot water people call as know natural hot springs. We get an opportunity to enjoy hot spring in Jhinu Danda which is 15 minutes descent from our hotel. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis) 

Day 12: Jhinu to Nayapul to Pokhara 5-6 hrs.

Today our trekking ends at Nayapull. After breakfast, we were going to follow the riverbank of the Modi Khola via New Bridge and Kyumi Village. We will keep on continuing our last-minute journey into the Syauli bazaar to Birethati and then we head to half an hour for the ends at Nayapull. We will take a few minutes to rest for the cold drinks, and after that drive back to Pokhara. Take a rest and relax in the hotel. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis) 

Day 13: Pokhara to Kathmandu drive 6-7 hrs

We will arrange a ticket in the tourist coach at the riverside seat and start your journey at 7:30 am from Pokhara. The left-side seats of vehicles are nice to enjoy the scenery; the road follows by Trisuli River where you see many people rafting the river. After 6/7 hours you will arrive at Kathmandu (beside Thamel) and transfer to your hotel. The day at leisure to rest, catch up on some last-minute shopping or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 14: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination)

Today is the last day of the Annapurna base camp trip; you are saying goodbye to the mountains as the journey in Nepal, ends today, there is nothing to do but trade emails with the travel company and organize the photos. If you have more time, you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

  • Nepal entry visa: you can get a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (A multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by Paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos)
